I spent much time looking for a netbook that the OS would support my choice with a minimum of work for me – not to play with kext and DellEFI or nothing. I was under a lot of source material OS X as possible to work without installing alternatives (eg, Wi-Fi card). The S10 is ideal for editing.

My advice would be to the properties of both dependent and independent discussion of the operating system.

The building is to some of high quality comparedNetbooks I have used. The plastic does not creak or bend when you open the lid or pick up. It weighs only 3 kg. But it feels very solid in the hand. I have to be the hard disk and RAM, more than sufficient, but if I wanted to upgrade, Lenovo complicated the process, unlike other manufacturers who dig for them. The Atom processor has been described as "prison, but I have not noticed any slowness in OS X with integrated graphics, is not streaming video like YouTube and Huluperfect, but it is with my G4 1.5 GHz with 1.25 GB of RAM: a bit choppy, but watchable bound. The same could be said for every atom netbook, and I think more RAM would be useful.

As with all netbooks, the plan, the compromise includes small form factor and low price keep:

1) The keyboard of the S10 uses the standard – the punctuation is everything that you expect to be – but the right shift key is a half size to make room for the up arrow to make the I thinkDoing a lot. With more practice, this would not be a problem, and my only real complaint from the keyboard layout. If it would really bug you will get S10-2, which has a shift key to right-size.

2) The Amazon ships this model with a 3-cell battery, and even further down the brightness with wifi, only the input, I do not have to take a position in 02:45 off of him. Here again, the S10-2 is a better option because it comes with a 6-cell battery (5.5 hours, easily). Anyway, ifThey have a 6-cell battery, it will remain a little, and the proposal for the computer to a slight angle.

3) The S10 comes just two USB ports. For me it was enough, but the performance may vary. The S10-2 comes with three USB ports, but the ExpressCard slot.

4) After the Snow Leopard, any component other than Ethernet, and works internal microphone. If you need it, the Apple USB to Ethernet works fine. I need a microphone, but if you Skype or iChatw / video, i think, all USB microphone that works well with 10.6. I prefer the S10 over the S10-2 only here, because the webcam works with iChat on the S10-2, not on Skype or Photo Booth. The S10-2 could not sleep, which is very irritating after a while. The S10 has no sleep problems, as long as you change a setting in System Preferences.

Overall I'm happy with the S10. He threatened, but they do not bother me, especially for the price. I will be happy to hang what AppleNews anything comparable in size.

Customer Reviews

After much research and comparison, I am finally on the Samsung NC10 netbook. I have for several months and I do not regret my purchase at all. Here are the reasons why I have chosen this model.
Pros:
1: It has a matte screen. I do not know about you, but I want to be able to read the screen where I could get to use the netbook. I often need the offices, which means that create a lot of light glare. This is an ultraportable. Glossy screens do not work well where therelots of light, especially outdoors.

2: The size and keyboard layout: OK, I admit. I'm a keyboard snob. My desktop at home has nothing but the original IBM Model M "Clicky" keyboard. The spacing and layout are the benchmark for all other keyboards have been created and will be assessed. I know I will not see the importance and the size of a laptop, but the NC10 will have a very nice keyboard for a netbook. I particularly appreciated when the keys come "down" when you get a completeRight Shift key.

3: Color and Appearance: I like the color blue and I also like the fact that the keyboard is glossy plastic bezel. Never use on a computer with a glossy bezel after five minutes? All burrs and fingerprints are clearly visible. I can live with the glossy casing, it is quite strong, but the research does not require frequent cleaning to keep fingerprints away too.

4: Port placement and Facilities: Everything is easily accessible and you have three USB ports,Bluetooth and an SD card reader. Very handy, because almost all devices now using SD cards. This makes it ideal for small boats to run the camera. £ 2.5 moves well, and the hard drive is large enough to store a large number of photos, even at high resolution and file size.

I've also noticed that this netbook has the very good sound quality to the headphone jack that makes it very pleasant to listen to MP3 music on the go. The quality of the screen is sharp and brightwith the definition of good colors. The resolution is 1024×600. Small, but at least it's not 1024×576. With a screen this size will help the lack of additional office space. Battery life is approximately 6 hours are used regularly. I currently use Windows XP, I have not tested Windows 7 RC1 and it went very well. You have to download drivers for Windows 7 I have a picture of the original XP installation, so I can go back when it is needed.

But only one con:
The touchpad. It israther narrow and it is flush with the bezel, which means you do not really feel if you left with your finger the touchpad. Takes a little getting used to. I can work with him, but a large touchpad would have been nice. The button bar is also back from the edge of the netbook, this is done a little getting used to. The workaround? For prolonged use, I have a Bluetooth mouse.

Overall though, I must say I am very happy with my Samsung NC10. There are goodand it does exactly what I bought, incidental a light, portable machine simply everywhere. My laptop is running regular Windows 7, so it's nice to have an XP machine to the need arises. I've even done to restore the data on one or two times with a USB / SATA-NC10 and shiny. It proved to be very versatile and a workaholic, dass

no regrets – cat-bear – Upstate NY
I have almost an hour this year, use it only on my home wireless network, and had no real problem. Some minor problems have been solved by googling, reading forums on [...], and use it only with my router to connect to. Experiences of others, I think I'm glad not to have support from Samsung.

Do not buy Samsung – Ruchi Kumar – Wayne, NJ United States
This machine is broken four times in less than a question every time the same year with the LCD screen .. Samsung does not stand behind their warranty 1 years .. Keep away from Samsung notebooks / netbooks .. Repair turnaround is 3-4 weeks, usually made by other companies.

Almost a year and I’m still in love – Harbi – Chicago
I have this netbook in April 2009. This is one of the best decisions I've made. It is so light and portable. with a laptop with me when I make a decision … no more. I have not previously faced a problem with him.
I have a Toshiba normal size that I do not use (it seems in comparison to the large CN-10)
My only complaint is that it lacks a DVD player, but I bought a laptop (to watch my Netflix movies.

Regretted this purchase since the beginning… :/ – Rachelle –
This computer is correct, but I would never buy again. I have since August 2009 (only had 6-7 months). Here are my problems with it:

1. [Since I have it] Every time I close and restart, I have to log in 20 times before it works. The login screen appears, give me my password, it shows my screen. That is all. I can not do anything but CTRL + ALT + DEL to log out, then try again. Sometimes it is to work the first time, butSometimes I try literally 20 times before I finally got my computer load. So I keep in reserve, almost all the time because I have no time to so unpredictable at the start.

2. [New problems in the past few days] I'm experiencing this problem with my screen is completely white, if my computer is plugged in to change the angle of the screen sometimes help, but mostly it's just pain. Obviously, this is a widespread problem. Here is a siteYou can read at: [...]. For more? Perform a search for "Samsung NC10 white screen. Trust me, you'll find stuff.

I think there is a problem with a wiring harness connected to the screen /. I have not tried reinstalling the operating system last night, but I'm still experiencing the problem with the screen. In fact, only a few minutes before my screen went black and I had to stop and start again high, because otherwise it would be normal again.

Then I reinstalled the operating system,However, the function keys (hereinafter referred to as the only thing I like about this machine in comparison to the other netbook I) are not functional, called. They do nothing. It is extremely frustrating, because I do not change the screen brightness or volume, or check my battery as usual. Additionally, the computer will not recognize if the headset is plugged into the outlet, so I can not the video clip that I wanted (the sound does not

3. Bluetooth and the Synaptics touchpadsteadily decreases, and the only way to get up and running is to restart the computer.

4. The computer in general, everything seems cheap … Hull cheap plastic, the cracks, the battery is not as long as it should, etc.

5. The speakers are very quiet. I can not hear hardly anything about them when they return to the top. I'm almost always resort headphones, I wonder what is the goal, the player is.

Things Ias:

1. I love all these left shortcuts (Fn + Esc = standby, Fn + F2 = battery juice, Fn + F5 = backlight, Fn + F6 = Mute, and of course the volume and brightness keys, etc..)

I get an Acer, when it finally bites the dust, which I think is not very long … (I edited this comment yesterday, and have a couple of times since. "Upon completion of this review, I ordered an Acer – tried and true.)

Customer Reviews

I went into a mode you should be seeing this product in blue and white
MSI has a red envelope, I immediately asked about the site. Much too
I had my disappointment Almost Nowhere, after nearly two hours on the phone
Listen to a recording of "someone will get in touch:" I have at this track. Finally, someone had MSI respond almost immediately by e-mail me again disappointing. It offered little in telling me what I wanted to hear, and helpis very generic, to say that not customize MSI.

So I wanted to know the battery life with built-in camera, Bluetooth, and b / g / n I ordered the blue 123-003. In monitoring this order, I stumbled upon the case now offers 123-004 amazon.com red as a pre-order. Amazon has been very cooperative and understanding of my situation. I just wanted to not the order, he was a few days later the question. My order has been fully reimbursed and was told that I can in my Pre OrderLeisure without pressure from them to do so in haste. Amazon.com is important for the reputation.

Despite suggested the problem was ready to be delivered at a particular time, so I met with the pre-order costs for the second day. Then I discovered that not leave pre-orders until then and it was actually previously available, with more money at stake for shipping. To be honest, find it with a negative amazon.com, because I had pre-ordered miniumum of three weeksbefore
available for shipping, and they were ready to be shipped, mount it would have been nice if they have delivered, rather than hold her, tried with him, the people, the expedition. The abuse if you ask me.

The computer itself, AWESOME! Almost small enough to easily navigate to.

I highly recommend getting a mouse and install additional drivers for the touchpad you can disable it if you do not Plannin input. It is very annoying whenit comes to the cursor and also the removal of the typed text. UGH.

If you upgrade the memory to be tired. This is not a one two three, you're done. There are no instructions, how to disconnect and replace the bottom cover, I could only find online that are a total of 10 screws, should rely to a 10th violated in the "if seal broken warranty sticker"

I understand why you are tinkering with electronics and plastics industryComponents, where its very easy to enter and hear the pop resonance wrong. So be warned only that aspect I have to get up and running very hard and persevere.

The screen is smooth and better than I had expected,
shows nearly perfect (with room for replacement), my favorite game site.
I had seen on smaller systems, and know not adapt to my needs 8.9.

The speakers, well below par, but honestly, the only thing you will be ignored ifYou can buy it for a very portable netbook handy.

I do not know what Windows does with the new operating system and I hope they consider that using more and more of us netbooks to run their operating system. I've heard they offer a limited version 7 for netbooks where they be crippling to the environment, so that the user had run only 3 programs. That scares me a little, but I like XP as long as I removevery happy with my current purchase.

Oh, is a major drawback to this computer, ugh ugh, the bag a freebie add-on … does not match the computer with the battery in. I think this is the stupidest thing ever a product with a bag, do not carry the item that you purchased to send secure and comfortable. Sortta like me a gas card for 100 liters of unleaded petrol, when I reg
bought a vehicle with a diesel engine. Just plain dumb. Fortunately, hissomething that you end up trying to do password to understand WTH, I can order.

Yes, I would recommend to friends and family, and think it has been worth my dime nickel and dime.

Netbook that beats out the ASUS 1000HA – James Dickinson – Phoenix, AZ
Watch video: http://www.amazon.com/review/RB2S1LEL4RMYZ My name is Jim Dickinson. I use the MSI Wind U123-003 on the ground, while I work for my business computer consulting, i-SupportDesk, and now I use it as my main workhorse! I bought an upgrade to 2 GB of memory, a Bluetooth mouse and some USB-powered speakers and I'm sitting pretty! I have a colleague who has the ASUS 1000HA, another high-power Netbook, but I think we both love the wind a little better!

No Mic – egale –
I'm not going to make this long review in depth. Most netbooks are based on the same hardware and there is hardly any difference between them. The netbook is no exception. I chose it because it has the slightly faster processor N280, wireless "N", and a large battery of Nice.

The device provides, as promised. The screen is bright and you can surf pretty fast. You will receive 6 to 7 hours on the battery.

For what reason has, MSI decided to have a built-in microphone terrible. You never have one, and it can not be important, but if you want to use it, you'll be disappointed. With the default settings for the microphone is not supported when you scream at the top of the lung. If you increase the Hidden setting to find microphone, your voice like a whisper to be picked up. Around the research, it is a known problem with the model.

The cases, which is not extended with the netbook for a device with the battery. The computer fits, but youcan no longer close the deal because of the huge battery.

If you have never the microphone, give them 4 to 5 star. If you buy this and plan to buy the microphone, you use a good headset with microphone.

great little machine! – a reader –
Just got my red MSI U123 (9 cells) last night. I'm not the tech-y at all, and configure in 20 minutes with ease. The hump of the battery is used to the back of the computer, which could be a really thoughtful and reasonable solution to increase what is aesthetically ugly. Some power users may find a little hard to, but after about 7 pounds full-size laptop ET-5 and A Filofax, it feels like a pen for me).

I read reviews complaining about the fact that the netbook is notthe case, but it really does. Here is the trick: in the first place the charger and power cord in his pocket for accessories (Disconnect, so that the strings were smooth) then took the Netbook from the battery, insert it into the trap, s to ensure that the underside the netbook accessory pocket faces. (The battery will be at the open end after the onset) If you do it this way, the strings in access accessory pocket in nature caused by the swelling of the battery. It is comfortable, butfits in any case. (with room for a flash drive and maybe even a mini-mouse in the bag and accessories)

I looked at several brands before deciding on Lenovo Netbook. I am very happy with my decision. The keyboard is slightly smaller than the other 10 "netbooks, it is certainly appropriate with a small adjustment (I'm a touch-typing). The only annoying feature is the right shift key, like other 's noted. That said, the feeling of the keyboard is much better than others in my opinion. Furthermore, a new model is released today (S10-2) with a better organization of the keyboard.

Thewhere the Lenovo shines over the other, in my opinion, is in its comfort and performance. Others do not seem too much attention to detail that has this model to have him. For example, the keyboard on the HPS (I used it several times) is hill on the left side and the shiny plastic on the screen is wrinkled. Annoying. And many times the keyboards Asus recorded incorrectly (or not) take. The MSI Winds like to switch back. But Lenovo is very solidly built and looks moderate tastea machine as a good business should. Pretty nice, if that's your thing.

I found that there are several fast processor and hard drive for me, even "just installed" with 1 GB of RAM. But I'm not a gamer and do not care about videos on it, so I really push the limits. The screen is very nice and is full of 1024×600.

The model I received contained the operating system more quickly splash top. So that you can use a device OS that launch a browser (and renamed robbedApplication Firefox 2), a media player and a few tools and others. It's nice, but it disables features such as plugins for the browser or the ability to upload files, so there are limits to what you can do with it. Great if you want to check news and weather, or get fast instructions to the door.

If you are interested, here is how the disk is partitioned 115 GB primary partition formatted FAT32 contain the Windows XP operating system. I'm pretty sure that FAT32 was chosen to replace the currentNTFS, because it Splash top for accessing media files that you can receive and store, is using Windows. A second formatted NTFS partition of 30 GB as D: drive in Windows, and there is a partition on the 3rd (hidden in Windows) used to store disc images for the system unique key for the restore.

I wanted to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix works but the manual advises that the partitions of 115 GB or play 15, because it can restore the key is no longer unique. So I decided to use part of the 30 GB toInstalling Ubuntu partition. This actually seems to work quite well, as Ubuntu has no problem with easy access to the primary partition FAT32 natively. So you can record your music, movies, photos and work files on the big partition and save it in either Windows or Ubuntu. Enables a configuration very well.

The Ubuntu installation was painless. Just follow the instructions on the Ubuntu website, and it is about the rest. Networking, sleep mode, the screenBrightness and volume, and all have the function of the other, without making any changes worked. Only need to run using the internal microphone, but the instructions are available when they are on the web. The UNR is nice to think that it makes very good use of the limited area of the screen on these smaller computers. It boots faster than Windows, and seems generally flexible.

I recommend this model to all in the market for a netbook.

Much better than I expected. – D. Davis – Texas
This is a laptop made good – this really is not fast, but it's really cheap. – He has a ton of hard drive – the keyboard just as I have a few typos time, but it can run applications in my big chair, and I mess with it 2 to 4 hours per day.

Easily overloooked, great little netbook in a crowded market – Peter Nom De Guerre – New York, NY
The first thing's first: when it comes to shopping netbook, you have many options. Called Asus, Acer, Lenovo, HP, MSI, Samsung – to name a few – have all thrown their hats in the game (it seems Apple is) to stand as the only holdout. It may seem a little strange that someone looking for a machine to $ 300 – $ 400 and do not know where to start.

The Lenovo S10 is a good choice for many reasons. I'm going with the least important, beginning: aesthetics. It is (mostly) just a solidly builtUnit, and it looks good in black or white (or other color combinations to funky). It feels solid and substantial, the screen is bright and attractive, and the trackpad, while small, is well placed to react.

[A note on minors Build Quality: circles of money on each side of the S10 can die if they suffer a drop / shock, making it much less attractive than that. So be careful.]

In terms of performance if you go with the standard model $ 300-400,You probably have an early 1.60 GHz Intel Atom processor, which is good for word processing, internet, light (with emphasis on light) of photo-retouching and editing, music management, and as a result. Nevertheless, I have some video encoding on this thing (the addition of subtitles and others), and the boy has swallowed it. I think it will do to intensive treatment, but it will take time, sweet.

A good thing with the S10 is that adding a stick of RAM (strongly recommended –and inexpensive ($ 25)) and the exchange of HD is a snap. The bottom of the netbook just opens, and you have instant access to all his courage yummy.

A few questions but something bothers me: The first big mistake with this unit is (1) wireless card Wonky loses from time to time, a signal for no reason. I tested all the elements of my home network (a D-Link DIR-655 router is running and you use a NAS, and two phones), including this one, and the fault lies squarely with failure, the S10Wireless card. The second is (2) it is hot. The fan rotates, and it is a bit much for such a small laptop. Do not get me wrong, it is not strong or irritating significantly stronger, but when you are in a small, quiet room, you will hear (and if on your knees feel).

All this said, if you are on the market for a netbook low price the work done is replaced, the Lenovo S10 is as good as other inputs. Add a stick of RAM, and you can easily dual-boot. I played withMSI Wind (and got a Christmas for my sister) and the Eee PC (a friend has it), and the S10 one Smidge just feels better than two. But ultimately, it is best to play with everyone and then decide.

Great item – Howard Thomas – GA United States
After they first have purchased a 9-inch Dell back and because the Wi-Fi does not work, I thought, a little larger screen would be better. I am very happy with the 10-inch netbook Lenovo satisfied. I use it as a computer away from home. Lightweight and great for travel.

The Archos 10 is a brand new netbook computer Hasee. This is the first entry on the Archos netbook market something new and grow. The hardware is pretty much what you get now, netbooks, unless you spend $ 900 for Sony P (which is a powerful and sexy), but who wants to spend $ 900 on a netbook?

What do you get in the software is not standard, you will receive a $ 50 credit for the Archos Media Club (film), and while the list of films is short, and some are very old, there are sometracks are decent, and free is good. You will also work IBM Lotus Symphony for an office-type. 50 songs and a free audiobook free if you register the program, eMusic, and anti-virus works very well.

My wife has a mini-HP and outside the two is the main difference is the software on the Archos, and I paid almost $ 100.00 less on Amazon for the Archos.

Here are the pros and cons:

Pros: $ 50 movie credit, free software, deal with free music, NiceCrisp display. Big hard drive, bigger than most netbooks have, this is a great feature because you tend to use it with movies and music.

Disadvantages: keyboard is miniaturized, it is difficult to develop. Number keys easily compensated by normal keyboards, so if you are a typer you press a wrong number the whole time.

Touchpad scrolling is not typically on other netbooks and notebooks, you should use the arrow keys or you're usingthe up / down arrows at the edge of the screen.

Overall, I would recommend this netbook, you are not likely to be beaten heavily on him anyway, and the price will be difficult to obtain this property from another manufacturer.

More Customer Reviews

Fantastic Screen – Decent battery life – Good performance – Turbodonkey – Kentucky
I bought from Tiger Direct Version 3 cells. I can get 2.5 hours on a charge to moderate use. The screen is fantastic. There is no reflection, in contrast to others, the glossy screen. I am with the performance of the machine – like all the other netbooks it has satisfied the same courage, but I think it runs faster, just a bit. The included software is easy bloaty but not so bad. You can not beat it for the price.

Great Netbook – Scott Dickens – Pensacola, FL
I bought the Archos 10 from Amazon for 258 $. At that price, I could not do anything wrong. I had the netbook for about 3 weeks and could not be happier. The battery life is with the 6-cell battery (5-7 hours, I appreciate excellent). The only complaints I have are in most Netbooks (keyboard, etc.). The LED-backlit LCD display is one of the best I've seen, the screen looks good even in direct sunlight. I loaded Windows 7 RC and manages real estate for the use of Web and streaming video. Overall, Iwas a little worried when I ordered that I should not, but I have absolutely (no regrets) have especially for the price.

love this little guy! – K. Cena – Bradenton, Fl.
I wanted a netbook for my son who starts high school next school year because the emphasis will be given, they are light (perfect) for a backpack full of textbooks, and they can do everything the big 1, netbooks for several months before a decision about the Archos 10 do.I investigated and they decided, because everything I had wanted and more. It was operational right out of the box, Wi-Fi works very well and he has so many extras that make my son's love. At first he was not satisfied with myChoice to have a smaller laptop, but when he loved it. It is easy to (web-cam, V-Tuner, Windows, word processing, e-mail use you name it) and the battery lasts need at least 5 hours before a fee. The keyboard is slightly smaller and does not have small hands, but he did so, however, depend quickly. I repeat, what is all a great machine and it would to anyone who needs a laptop lighter than recommended, it is much easier to bear. It has noCD / DVD burner, but you can very easily one or on Amazon for only $ 50 buy, it can easily in 1 of 3 USB ports and your camera.
